Power Outages Are Not a Matter of If — They Are a Matter of When

Ontario homeowners know the drill. Ice storms in winter, thunderstorms in summer, and the occasional extended outage that leaves you without heat, water (if you are on a well pump), refrigeration, and everything else you depend on.

A whole-home backup generator with an automatic transfer switch solves this completely. When the power goes out, the generator detects the outage within seconds, starts automatically, and feeds power directly to your panel. When utility power comes back, it shuts off on its own. You do not have to do a thing.

At KV Bear Electrical (ECRA/ESA 7014730), we install whole-home generators and automatic transfer switches with proper ESA permitting and inspection. We size the generator to your home's needs, connect it to your panel, and make sure it is ready for the next outage.

Generator Installation Process

1

Sizing

We calculate your home's essential electrical loads (and full loads if you want whole-home coverage) to determine the right generator size. A typical Ontario home needs 16-24 kW.

2

Fuel Connection

We coordinate with a licensed gas fitter for the natural gas or propane connection. If you prefer propane, we help you plan tank placement.

3

Electrical Installation

We install the automatic transfer switch at your panel, run the wiring between the generator and transfer switch, and ensure everything is properly grounded and bonded.

4

Testing & Permitting

We test the system under load, verify the automatic switchover works correctly, and complete the ESA inspection. You receive a Certificate of Inspection.

How Much Does a Whole-Home Generator Cost?

A complete installation — generator, transfer switch, electrical work, and permitting — typically runs $8,000 to $18,000 depending on the generator size and complexity of the installation. Natural gas generators are generally more cost-effective to operate than propane. We provide a detailed quote after assessing your needs and home setup.

KV Bear was recommended to us by a friend. We wanted to install a Tesla charger only to find out our electrical panel was known for faulting resulting in an electrical fire. He showed us signs of the panel arcing. The work was clean, professional, and fast! We are so happy we hired a professional.
